
Naxos is the second largest island of Cyclades, with about 18,000 residents.
Naxos has many steep bays around, and a rich ancient history, with several findings from the fifth millennium BC and afterwards. The island has a lot of tourists because of the beaches, blue waters, and the characteristic architecture with white washed houses and narrow streets. Capital is the country which has an impressive castle atop a hill, harbor, old town houses with white features, small cobbled narrow streets, souvenir shops etc. also you can see the Venetian era museum types, the archaeological museum, figurines and vessels, the ancient temple of Portaria, the Venetian castle, the museum-archaeological site in the Metropolitan square and the Cathedral.
In Naxos you could also visit the Agios Prokopios beach, the coast of Mikri Vigla, Agia Anna, the impressive ancient temple of Demeter and the orthodox church of Panagia Drosiani.
In the island you can enjoy water sports - skiing - windsurfing, diving, snorkelling, trips to nearby islands, etc.
The average temperature range from 11 degrees Celsius (52F) in January to 26 degrees during July and August. Tourism in particular Naxos lasts from May to October with peak months in July and August.
Naxos can be reached by plane via the airport of Athens and by ferry from Piraeus.
