Kastoria is a city in Greece and the capital of the prefecture. Located at the west end of Western Macedonia. The population amounts to 13.387 inhabitants (2011).
It is built on a peninsula of the namesake lake at an altitude of 703 m from the sea, between Vitsis and lines.
Surrounded by the lake and connected to the mainland through a wider strip of land filling, giving the impression the island.
In its long history, a half millennium since the creation of two millennia of Housing, experienced sieges and conquests of Bulgarians, Normans and Turks, but keeping up to date a significant number of Byzantine churches, relics and mansions as evidence of occasional acne because of the successful marketing and distribution of fur in important centers of Europe.
